Yeah ok if I'm gonna be honest I am already high-key turned off today's lecture... DJ-ing??? Sooooo laaammmeeee. Just takes me back to high school clubbing experiences, eek!
Well... despite my current with-drawed attitude, let's give this a crack.
BRB.
*Goes and gets my big headphones to feel like a REAL DJ*

Okay. I'm good to go now!
Synthesising (AKA... DJ-ing)
Humbo's opening quote:
OK, one of the things you'll often hear people say is that music mash-ups are easy to do because nowadays the software does all the work for you.
He's right, that is exactly what I think. Apparently it is a lot harder than that though, so, let's jump right in and find out!
Challenge one: mash-up two beats in SoundTrap
SOUNDTRAP! My good ol' friend, we go way back. I love SoundTrap so I am already feeling good about this. James gave us a whole bunch of resources to fiddle with, all being female QWEENS! <33
For my synth-remix-DJ-vibes-song I mixed 4 tracks:
Chandelier (Sia)
Royals (Lorde)
Good as Hell (Lizzo)
Beyonce formation sample
THAT WAS SO MUCH FUNNNN!!!!

Yikes... being a DJ is a lot more complex than it seems... turns out you do much more than click buttons...
Here's how mine turned out?
Like, it isn't horrible. In all honesty, I am actually quite proud of my rendition! The biggest issue I stumbled across was changing the key/tempo of different tracks. Most tracks integrated quite well... but as soon as Lizzo's Good as Hell joined in - it just sounded soo out of place! As great as SoundTrap is, I couldn't figure out how to solve these mixing issues.
Challenge two: mash up two beats in Ableton Live
Yep.
Okay.
Hmmm
mm
mmm
m.
So,
This is when things all went downhill.
HONESTLY THOUGH - WHO CREATES A MUSIC SOFTWARE THAAAT COMPLICATED?!?!?!?
I gave up. Just couldn't. Too hard.

I feel defeated. I'll stick to the Clarinet, thanks!
